8 College Wardrobe Essentials (for the ladies)

By

It’s getting close to school-starting time and I’ve been getting my wardrobe ready for a second year at college. I would LOVE to buy everything that I throw in my shopping cart, but unfortunately my budget won’t allow it. There are, however, a few staple items that got more wear than most of my other clothes...

The A-mazing Jeans

Jeans do wonders for our bodies! The right pair can hug and emphasize sexy curves while slimming thighs and other parts of the leg. They’re super easy to throw on for class and can be dressed up with heels for a night out. My favorite part of picking a pair of jeans? All the different kinds! Light wash, dark wash, black, grey, skinny, trouser, bootcut, flare, straight, ripped, hole-y. You can have ‘em any way you like ‘em.

The Bodycon Skirt

It’s ridiculous how versatile this skirt is. You can wear it with almost any type of blouse imaginable and it looks fabulous paired with both flats and heels. I would recommend opting for a neutral shade like black, but these skirts come all sorts of eye popping colors if you want a little extra pizzaz.

The Hoodie

These things are so comfy! Many people choose hoodies that reflect their school name or mascot, but you can get them almost anywhere. For instance, mine is a lime green, five buck, extra large sweatshirt from cvs and I live in it every night after about nine. Get one that you love and you’ll never take it off!

The Rain Jacket

Most college girls carry around an umbrella to protect themselves on rainy days. Honestly, I find this silly. Umbrellas are a hassle! You have to struggle to get them open and closed every time you leave or enter a building. You have to hold them up as you walk. They’re big, they’re bundlesome, and rain jackets work much better. They are light and easy to pack around and they keep you drier than an umbrella. Mine is made by Columbia and I highly recommend it.

The T-Shirt

T-shirts are simple, yet effective. I would stay away from text, but solid or mixed-color tees are perfect for everyday wear, can be layered, and can work with your bodycon skirt as an evening outfit. Crew neck or v-neck. Slouchy or fitted. Solid or striped. Take your pick!

Now For the Shoes...

The Everyday Shoe

I don’t want to stand at the door for five minutes every time I leave the house, deciding what shoe will best match my outfit. This is why a versatile everyday shoe is essential. Toms are my favorite. They’re cute, comfy, and for a good cause—everything a girl can ask for in a shoe—but they aren’t the only option. Many people like to wear flip-flops out and about. They are an easy option, but make sure that they support your foot, as well. Boots are cute shoes for the colder months, but you may have to spend a minute putting them on!

The Black Pump

This is a staple for all women, not just college girls. The black pump is great for going out of course, but it can also double as a professional shoe. Sure we aren’t in the work world yet, but internship and job interviews expect you to look the part.

The Rain Boot

Just like the rain jacket, this is a must for rainy college days when you still have to venture outside to get to class. It’s easy to tuck your pants into them so that they don’t get wet. In addition, you won’t dirty or ruin other shoes that aren’t made to withstand large puddles of water.

These were the things that I used the most my first year of college. I hope this article was helpful to all you college girls out there!

Very nicely done hub. For it being only your second hub, then I would have to say you're on your way to doing well. I voted it up and marked it useful. Don't forget to check out the Learning Center for more information. You can locate a link to it at the bottom of every page. There is a lot of information there and you'll learn all about Hubpages. :)
